The ignored problem with ai is it will and does lie, mislead, pacify... and has NO morals. Where a human being might have empathy for a victim, ai has none. Corbet Report did a very good piece about The Banksters being disappointed in the morality of soldiers and their efforts to override morality have had devastating effects on soldiers. But in al, they have the perfect soldier.
You put the emphasis where it belongs. People who use these systems need to be able to read and own them. But a model can be freely downloadable while its training data and compute stay closed. What does open mean then for someone trying to audit it?
